Dental Cleanings and Exams
Promoting optimum dental hygiene early on!
Dental health is an integral piece of our overall wellness so it’s important to engage kids in their oral hygiene early on, and routine dental cleanings and exams are a great place to start!
While kids are developing at-home dental care such as brushing and flossing, we can provide essential cleanings and exams to encourage dental health and prevent early decay and cavities. The American Dental Association (ADA) recommends that kids visit the dentist every six months.
The importance of six-month dental check-ups include:
- Cavity prevention
- Avoiding costly dental procedures down the road
- Help keep teeth healthy and white
We provide general dentistry services in Garden Grove including check-ups and cleanings, to help protect your little munchkin’s teeth!
The molars have a variety of nooks and crannies that make it difficult, especially for kids, to get into the grooves — sometimes brushing is just not enough in the early years.
When the molars are neglected and debris accumulates, this is the perfect environment for bacteria, thus dental decay and cavities. Dentals sealants are the perfect solution, providing your child’s teeth with the extra protection they need.
What is a dental sealant?
A dental sealant is comprised of plastic resins that are painted on, covering the tooth’s surface and draping the cracks and grooves of your child’s molars. It creates a barrier for debris and bacteria, better preventing cavities.
Humans have two sets of molars that are arguably the most vulnerable of all the teeth. They’re the most important for chewing but because they’re hidden in the back of our mouths and hard to reach, they often go uncleaned. Add in the factor that children have a hard time remembering to brush at all, they especially miss those hard-to-reach molars. Sealants are applied onto the molar and help protect the teeth from bacteria for as many as ten years!
Mouth guards are a great idea for any child playing contact sports. Not only do they help protect the teeth, they also prevent structural damage, lacerations, and even concussions. A proper fit ensures the best possible protection.
